Moodle is an open-source Learning Management System (LMS) that provides educators with the tools and features to create and manage online courses. It allows educators to organize course materials, create quizzes and assignments, host discussion forums, and track student progress. Moodle is highly flexible and can be customized to meet the specific needs of different institutions and learning environments.

Moodle supports both synchronous and asynchronous learning environments, enabling educators to host live webinars, video conferences, and chat sessions, as well as providing a variety of tools that support self-paced learning, including videos, interactive quizzes, and discussion forums. The platform also integrates with other tools and systems, such as Google Apps and plagiarism detection software, to provide a seamless learning experience.

Moodle is widely used in educational institutions, including universities, K-12 schools, and corporate training programs. It is well-suited to online and blended learning environments and distance education programs. Additionally, Moodle's accessibility features make it a popular choice for learners with disabilities, ensuring that courses are inclusive and accessible to all learners.

The Moodle community is an active group of users, developers, and educators who contribute to the platform's development and improvement. The community provides support, resources, and documentation for users, as well as a forum for sharing ideas and best practices. Moodle releases regular updates and improvements, ensuring that the platform remains up-to-date with the latest technologies and best practices.

A culminating project involving an integration of all that has been learnt during the 4-year program, in a multi-faceted, integrative, cross-disciplinary output. The project result will be presented in the form of a final graduating collection show, and a detailed documentation of the design process that went into arriving at the final output. In an independent study format, the learners will analyze, organize, and execute a design collection beginning from conceptualization phase followed by illustrating their ideas onto paper while also working on the trend forecasting interpretations of fabrics and trims; culminating into eight garments via pattern and surface development. The project provides the students with further opportunity to develop personal voice and communicate original visual messages.

What You'll Learn

By the end of this course, students will be able to –

  • Demonstrate an ability to research, analyze, appraise and synthesize appropriate contextual information related to one’s design collection
  • Identify and communicate clear aims and objectives related to the client and user requirements for the proposed design collection through production of a well-conceived and structured working brief
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow the design process to develop a design collection showcasing one’s design capabilities and prowess most effectively
  • Demonstrate an ability to evaluate and assimilate research findings into a well-structured and professionally presented design collection befitting the client requirements

Modules In This Course

Stage 1 - Introduction to Capstone Project – Design Collection & Research

Stage 2 - Introduction to Market Research & Material Exploration

Stage 3 - Introduction to Design Concept & Process

Stage 4 - Introduction to Range Development

Stage 5 – Final Presentation

Pattern making is one of the earliest steps in the development of a garment. It is a craft that has become a skilled technical process. Patterns can be formed by either 2D or 3D process and a combination of methods are used to create a pattern.  Draping is also a method of pattern making where in a muslin cloth is used to drape over a dress form or a model. It is a three-dimensional process of pattern making. Draping allows the designer to freely and accurately express his/her ideas. Proportion of design details can be related to the human body and their effect is clearly visible. The medium for draping is usually muslin, plain weave fabric of unfinished cotton. The direction of the grain is easily visible and its relatively low cost permits free use for experimentation.

What You'll Learn

By the end of this course, students will be able to –

  • Recognize and use various tools and equipment as per requirement while pattern making and draping.
  • Understand the relation of measurements to the particular component and design.
  • Create a measurement chart as required for pattern making and draping.
  • Draft and Construct patterns of various components as per the Designs.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and apply various measurements in pattern making and draping.
  • Interpret pattern symbols and using a pattern guide sheet to correctly place pattern pieces to suit material width and type.
  • Identify and apply industrial draping techniques.
